2026 AIA Houston Sandcastle Competition — Silver Sponsor
Castle Air Conditioning & Heating is a Silver Sponsor of the 2026 AIA Houston Sandcastle Competition, held on the beach at Galveston. Teams arrive at first light with nothing but shovels, spray bottles and a drawing, and by the afternoon there are castles, sea creatures and full architectural jokes standing along the sand — all of it built from sand and seawater, and all of it gone by the next tide.
It is a fitting one for us to put our name behind. We have been building and looking after things in this part of Texas since 1975, and there is something we recognize in a crowd of people doing careful work outdoors in the Gulf heat.
What we brought to the beach
We hosted the volunteer and committee tent on East Beach, handed out cooling towels to anyone who wanted one, and kept the teams and the committee fed through the day. Building in full Gulf sun from first light is harder work than the finished sculptures make it look.

If you have never been, it is worth the drive down. Bring water, bring sunscreen, and go early before the sun gets serious about it.
Where our team shows up
Company sponsorships are one part of it. The other part is what people here do on their own time, and that started long before any of it had a logo attached.
Sarah West, our office manager, has led and organized large volunteer teams through years of involvement with the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. She also volunteers with organizations supporting underprivileged children and sits on the board of a Scottish charity dedicated to preserving clan heritage.
Garry Mack, our consultant, has served as a firefighter with the Seabrook Volunteer Fire Department since 2007.

Why a local company does this
An HVAC company can be run from anywhere. Plenty are — call centers in another state, technicians who have never driven the road your house is on, a name on a van and nothing behind it.
That is not how this works when you are actually from somewhere. We know which neighborhoods were built in the eighties and still have the original ductwork. We know which streets flood. We know that the first cold front of the year will have every phone in the communities we serve around Houston ringing on the same evening, because it happens every year.
Sponsoring things, turning up, and doing the work properly are the same instinct. You cannot really do one and skip the others.
